In April 2014, Prof. LIU Cheng-liang and Dr. GONG Liang are invited by the Sino-German Scientific Research Center (Chinesisch-Deutsches Zentrum für Wissenschaftsförderung,CDZW) to take part in a bilateral symposium on “Social Interactive Computing: Environment, Robots and Humans”, hosted by Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstlische Intelligenz, DFKI in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Prof. LIU Cheng-liang delivered a keynote speech entitled “Multi-scale Human-robot Remote Cooperation Paradigm Based on Intelligent Cloud Interaction”, technically elaborated on a novel hierarchical structure for supporting intelligent Human-Robot communication in the cloud-computing and Big-data era. Prof. LIU’s insightful view ontechnical trends in this field came into a hot topic in this symposium. Dr. GONG Liang presented his special report with the title of “the state-of-the-art technologies on Human-Robot implicit cooperation”.

Following the spin-off invitations Prof. LIU Cheng-liang paid visits to DFKI, Kaiserslautern University, Stuttgart University and TU Münichen, and signed series of tentative collaboration agreements.

More than 30 specialists and scholars from top universities and institutions in German and China are involved in this bilateral symposium, whose research interests expand a wide spectrum from computer science, mechanical engineering to psychology science. The scientists hold a warm discussion on the multi-disciplinary domain of social computing, and explore opportunities with respect to this new academic field. The success and fruits of this symposium lay the foundation for Sino-German bilateral long-term research collaborations.
