SJTU wins the first prize in the 2nd SIOMMS 2013

On 12th October, 2013, SJTU won the first prize in the team & individual competition in the 2nd Students International Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science (SIOMMS 2013). The 2nd SIOMMS 2013 was held by the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), jointly held by SJTU. Professor Gao Feng, Vice Editor-in-Chief of the IFToMM, served as the chairman of this competition. Fourteen teams from six countries (Russia, Spain, Japan, Korea (South), Taiwan, China(Mainland)) took part in the 2nd SIOMMS 2013.

 

 

On behalf of SJTU, Professor Liu Yingzheng, Vice Dean of ME, welcomed the participating teams. Mr. Yoshihiko Nakamura, Chairman of IFToMM, Professor of University of Tokyo, wished all teams success at the opening ceremony. Mr. Tu Shan, Vice President of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), committee member of IFToMM TC, took an oath on behalf of the jury. The SIOMMS 2013 invited many other guests, including Professor Yukio Takeda (Tokyo Institute of Technology) and Professor Eduard G. Krylov ( Izhevsk State Technical University ).


 
All sessions were strictly in accordance to the SIOMMS rules implemented by IFToMM. The award ceremony took place on 13th October. ME’s Undergraduate team won the first place in the team competition. Mr. Lin Bo was awarded the first prize in the individual competition.

 

 

The aim of the SIOMMS is to deepen understanding of mechanical theories, raise interests, and promote international communication between mechanical engineering students. The 1st SIOMMS was held by Izhevsk State Technical University.
