The fourth Competition of Social Practice and Technological Energy Saving For National University Students closed successfully on Oct. 10th, during which the joint project by SJTU students Yao Xianyong, Cheng Gong from ME, Zhang Jie from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and others, guided by Prof. Sao Hua from ME, won the Top-grade Award( all together Only 10 projects were awarded).  
 

Leaders from SJTU and ME showed great concern for this competition. As an evaluation expert of the final match organizing committee, Prof. Wang Ruzhu, Director of Low Temperature and Refrigeration Institute, came to the site to supervise and keep abreast of the progress of the students' project. Previously, when the school was picking contestants, the Low Temperature and Refrigeration Institute opened their advanced lab to all the potential candidate groups with some necessary facilities and tools. Help also came from research area related professors and college league, providing necessary guidance and training. All of those efforts prove even more worthwhile when the students braved it out and brought back with them a grand award.

There were all together 1971 pieces of work from universities of all provinces, municipalities in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Region in the fourth Competition of Social Practice and Technological Energy Saving For National University Students. 120 professors of related areas acted as on-line judges to evaluate and finally approved 484 projects form 146 universities, with each project co-examined by 3 judges. The final match saw 135 projects from 73 universities. 
 

As an important part China's bid to carry out a nationwide energy saving and emission reduction program, the Competition of Social Practice and Technological Energy Saving For National University Students is an annual Extra-curricular science and technology competition held by key departments such as the Ministry of Education under the theme of "Saving Energy and Green Energy ". According to a report, the fifth Competition will be co-held by Xi'an Jiaotong University IN 2012.
