SJTU-Purdue Workshop

The 1st SJTU-Purdue Workshop on Flow, Heat Transfer and Combustion was held on June 2-3, 2011 on Minhang Campus with the aim of promoting research collaboration and student exchange in the fields of Flow, Heat Transfer and Combustion. Prof. Lifeng Xi, Executive Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, hosted the opening ceremony and delivered opening speech. Prof. Ping Cheng, Director of Thermal Energy Engineering and Prof. Raymond Viskanta from Purdue University served as Workshop Chair. Altogether 17 professors from both universities delivered an academic report and in-depth discussions on frontier research areas on Power Engineering and Thermal Energy was carried out.

 

 

During the workshop, Purdue delegations had lab tour in Key Laboratory for Power Machinery and Engineering of Ministry of Education, Engineering Research Center of Solar Power and Refrigeration of Ministry of Education and China-Italy Green Energy Laboratory, etc.

 


Via this workshop, both sides conducted in-depth communication on major research fields and outcomes, gaining better understanding of research activities and areas in partner universities. Also, practical plans have been provided for future collaboration.

 

Meanwhile, Prof. Zhen Huang held talks with Prof. Jay Gore, Jefferson Science and Technology Fellow for service at the US State Department, on joint research program and student exchange program.
