On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, a seminar on Northwestern University (NU) dual master degree program was held at ME. Professor Wei Chen from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University gave a speech at this seminar. About 30 senior undergraduate and graduate students attended this seminar.

Prof. Chen gave a detailed talk about Northwestern University, the NU Mechanical Engineering, the research interests of the ME professors and the application procedure and requirements of this dual degree master program. She also introduced campus life, accommodation, shopping and other information related to study at NU. Finally, Prof. Chen shared her opinions on career development, supervisor selection and email writing skills.

Northwestern University was founded in 1851 and ranked the twenty-eighth in the 2018 QS world university rankings. SJTU-ME and NU-CoE established this cooperative education program in 2012. No more than five qualified students each year may earn the master degree from both universities after completing three semesters at SJTU and three quarters at NU. There have been seven SJTU-ME students and one NU student joining this dual master degree program for the past three years.
